Working with a hearing loss

Posted October 23, 2018

We see people from all walks of life with hearing loss.  But there is an added level of stress that can be associated with your hearing impairment when you fear that it is impacting upon your ability to effectively carry out your job.

The first thing you can do is to make sure that you have the right hearing aids for your needs, and to be sure that they are accurately and appropriately adjusted.  You may need extra listening programmes for certain work environments that you are in.

It might be helpful to talk with the people you work with to help them understand how to communicate best with you.  And to have some insight into any limitations you may feel you have in hearing.  Assistive listening devices can help in some situations, and these accessories are developing at a rapid pace.
