Helen Smithson was born in the Waikato but grew up on Auckland’s North Shore. She is married and has three amazing children, two cats and a dog.
Helen has been friends with practice owner and audiologist, Emma Russell, since their children met at day care as four-year olds. Helen has also known our other audiologist Sandra Jamieson for many years – they coached their daughter’s netball team together while they were in primary school.
Customer Service has always been Helen’s area of expertise. All her working life she has worked in this area, starting in banking and moving onto the food industry. Helen started working for Boutique Audiology in 2019, on a casual basis, to help with the accounts. Helen made herself invaluable, and now works four days a week as the Office Manager.
Helen loves meeting and talking with all our wonderful clients. Luckily, she gets just as much enjoyment from organising our fantastic team of two audiologists and two ear nurses.
On a daily basis Helen increases her knowledge about ears, hearing and hearing aids. If you have a query, in the first instance you should speak to Helen. She will be able to advise you what to do, or book you for the right kind of appointment, if that is necessary.
Helen is learning to trouble shoot a number of hearing aid problems, and in most instances can carry out the same kinds of repairs that the audiologists can. Helen can accurately identify what size hearing aid batteries you use, or hearing aid wax filters. So, if you can’t be sure which batteries or filters you need, don’t worry! If Helen can’t help, she will certainly direct you to one of our exceptional team.
When Helen is not at work she enjoys watching her sons play sports, watching professionals play sport, and entertaining.
Please contact Helen at any time, to book an appointment with one of our professionals, to ask for advice, or just for a chat! Or you can book directly here.
